Microsoft Teams starting January 2022 supports the ability for its users to stream their Teamsmeetings and webinars to a large audience via the new real-time messaging protocol (RTMP).

This updated feature is an answer to the complex OBS configuration that people often use as an alternative.

The updated RTMP Streaming will simplify ease of use within Microsoft Teams . In addition, it will also stabilize the Teams environment, which was a challenge before. I am already curious to see how this updated feature will be received.

This article will soon publish a procedure with tips on how to get started with RTMP streaming within Microsoft Teams.

How to activate RTMP streaming with PowerShell?

With the command below in PowerShell one can activate LiveStreamingMode in the Microsoft Teams Powershell Console.

Connect-MicrosoftTeams

Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -LiveStreamingMode Enabled

In this screenshot, you can see that for all TeamsMeetingPolicy -> LiveStreamingMode is active.
